10 free SEO tools for discoverability

Rank Math Plugin

Rank Math is an add-on for WordPress that helps you optimise the content on your site. It lets you add meta titles, descriptions and structure your data more easily. To use this plugin, all you have to do is download it and put it on your WordPress site.

URL Opener

Bulk URL Opener is a great SEO tool that can help you save a lot of time and make the process of opening multiple URLs much more efficient. This tool can help you quickly open multiple URLs in one click and check the status of your websites. This can be really beneficial for those who need to keep track of their websites.

Benefits

Each page of your site gets an SEO score from Rank Math. When you tell this plugin what keyword you want to rank for, it gives you ideas for how to improve your ranking for that keyword. You can also find broken links on your site and fix them. You can also change URLs to point to new pages.

Yoast SEO Plugin

With the Yoast SEO plugin, it's easy to optimise your WordPress site and find content gaps. Install and turn on the Yoast plugin if your site is built on WordPress.

Benefits

You can change and improve your content with the Yoast plugin in three ways: SEO, readability, and social. With Yoast, you can set your site's meta descriptions, titles, canonical URL, index/no-index page labels, and other back-end settings. This plugin will measure the length of sentences and paragraphs and other factors to give each post a score for how easy it is to read. Yoast also has great tools to help you make your posts more likely to be shared on social media.

Google Trends

Google Trends, as its name suggests, lets you keep track of how popular topics and trends are in your industry over time. Use this tool to find out what the current trends are and then use that information to make a content marketing strategy that is up-to-date and relevant.

Benefits

Google Trends shows you how certain trends change over time and how people's search habits change around them. To use Google Trends, type a keyword into the search bar. You can see how people's interest in that topic has changed over time, where people are most interested, and what other keywords they are looking for that are related to that query. When used with other keywords, this tool works best to show how trends have changed over time.

SERP Similarity

Want to see if two keywords need to be targeted on two different pages or if they can be targeted on the same page? The Keyword Insights SERP similarity tool will tell you quickly how similar two keywords are to each other:

Once you sign up for the tool, you can use it for free and quickly compare the SERPs for two different keywords. We've heard from the owners that you'll soon be able to check more than two keywords.

If you pay for Keyword Insights, you can also group up to 2.5 million keywords at once, which means you could check millions of keywords at once.

Benefits

If you're writing a blog or trying to figure out which product or category pages to put on your website, it can be hard to know if you can target two keywords on the same page or if you need to make two separate pages to target them quickly. "Vape parts" and "vape accessories" are two examples. If we want to rank for both of these, do we just make one category page for "Vape parts and accessories," or do we need two separate pages? Can't they both mean the same thing?

As you can see in the image below, they only share one URL, so if we wanted to rank for both, we would need to make two different pages:

You can also use Keyword Insights to check millions of keywords at once by grouping them together:

Ahrefs Keyword Generator

Ahrefs' Keyword Generator is a lite version of Ahrefs' full tool. When you search for a keyword or phrase, it will show you the top 100 related keyword ideas. Enter up to 100 keywords or phrases in the search bar to use this free tool. You'll see a list of the top 100 keywords related to your search, along with their search volume from the last time the data for that keyword was updated and the keyword difficulties for the first 10 keywords on the list.

Benefits

This tool gives users a taste of what the full Ahrefs tool can do and is great for people who want to look into some keywords in their industry. You can see not only the keywords but also the top 50 questions about each keyword.

Google Search Console

Google Search Console (GSC), which used to be called Google Webmasters, shows you how Google crawls and organises your site. To use Google Search Console, make an account and add your website as a property to the account. After adding your domain, you'll need to prove that you own the site before you can use all of its features.

Benefits

There are many great things about Google Search Console, and one of them is that it can help you figure out why your website is having technical problems. It can also help you figure out which keywords or pieces of content are helping your site rank well.

Bing Webmaster Tools

Bing Webmaster is a tool that people often forget about. It has a full set of analytics that can help you look at your website and search analytics. Make a free account with Bing Webmaster Tools, add your website, and prove that you own the site. Then make your sitemaps or upload them. Once you're done, you can use Bing Webmaster Tools' tools and suggestions to start optimising your site and its content.

Benefits

Bing Webmaster Tools can help you find good keywords, give you reports, and crawl your website to find problems. It's a good way to get a second opinion on your site or find new information that Google Search Console didn't tell you.

Google Analytics

To see if your SEO efforts are paying off, you need to look at how easy it is for people to find your site and see where your visitors are coming from. You might see an increase in traffic after optimising a post, but that traffic might be coming from somewhere else, like social media. Google Analytics gives you detailed information about your site's visitors as well as information about what's happening on your site right now.

You can connect your website to Google Analytics if you already have a Google account. Use it with your Google Console account to get the most useful SEO information. When you connect the two tools, you'll be able to see the keywords people are using to find your site, the click-through rates for those keywords, and more.

Benefits

You can see how people use your website with Google Analytics. Using Google Analytics, you can find out how many people are visiting your site, where they are coming from, how long they stay on the page, and a lot more.

Ahrefs Backlink Checker

Ahrefs Backlink Checker, like their Keyword Research tool, is a free version of their full tool that shows you the top 100 backlinks to any website you search. To use this tool, type a URL into their search bar. You'll then see the site's domain rating, the number of backlinks, and the number of referring domains.

Benefits

This free tool is great for a quick check of your backlinks and a look at your competitors. Even though you can only see 100 links at a time, it's a good place to start. You will see the total number of backlinks, links from referring domains, the site's Domain Rating, and its URL rating.

SEM Rush

Like the other tools above, SEM Rush offers a free version of its powerful tool. SEM Rush can help with keyword research, on-page SEO audits, content optimizations, rank tracking, and a lot more besides just building links. You can use these features if you sign up for a free account.

Benefits

The Backlink Analysis and Link Building Tool from SEM Rush lets you see your backlink profile in detail. The free version of the Link Building Tool only lets you add 100 domains, but you'll be able to see your referring domains and backlinks change over time, as well as your backlink authority score. The tool helps you figure out where you can improve your link-building or get more attention online.
